How to Make Sticky Sesame Cauliflower

1. Prepare the batter

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Slowly add water until you get a smooth, slightly thick batter.

2. Coat the cauliflower

Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, making sure it’s fully coated.

3. Cook until crispy

You have two options:

Oven method:

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C)
  • Place coated cauliflower on a lined baking tray
  • Lightly spray or drizzle with oil
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway

Air fryer method:

  • Air fry at 375°F (190°C)
  • Cook for 15–20 minutes, shaking halfway through

4. Make the sesame sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, ketchup, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Stir and bring to a light simmer.

Add the cornstarch slurry and stir until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy (about 1–2 minutes).

5. Toss everything together

Add the crispy cauliflower to the sauce and gently toss until fully coated.

Tips for Best Results

  • Don’t overcrowd the baking tray or air fryer basket—this keeps it crispy

  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey/maple syrup
  • For extra crunch, double-bake the cauliflower for a few minutes before saucing
